Q1. I would like to go to Thailand on a holiday for a week. I hold an Australian passport, do I need a visa?
A:  Australian Nationals and 41 other countries are eligible to travel to Thailand for a tourism purpose with a visa exemption but to show the proof of the ticket to stay and leave the Kingdom within 30 days. Therefore, you do not need a visa.

Q2: I hold an Australian Travel Document, do I need a visa?
A: No matter how many days you will be staying in Thailand, you are required a visa.
Including nationals from all over the world who holds temporary passport.

Q3. I plan to visit other countries around Thailand and I plan to be in Thailand for less than 30 days, but my airline ticket shows more than 30 days. Do I need to apply a visa?
A: Yes, if your ticket shows more than 30 days in Thailand, you have to apply a visa before entering the Kingdom even if you plan to obtain a ticket to a third country upon arrival in Thailand

Q4: I hold an Australian Passport, I will be in Thailand on a business (meeting, conference) For less than 30 days. Do I need a visa?
A: Regardless of what Passport you are holding, you have to apply a Non-immigrant “ B “ visa

Q5: What do you mean by “passport has to be valid for at least 6 months “
A: Passport has to be minimum 6 months validity from the date you enter the Kingdom,
This does not mean that your Passport has to be at least 6 months old.

Q6: How soon should I apply a visa?
A: A Visa is valid for 3 months (as it will expire in 90 days ) from the date of issue, therefore, you  do not need to apply too early.

Q7: On a holiday next year, I will be entering Thailand twice but I haven’t decided when my second entry will be. Can I apply a double entry Visa?
A:  As a Visa is valid for 3 months, you have to make sure that the first and the second entry will be within 3 months period, otherwise the visa will be expired by the time you arrive on your second entry.

Q8: When you said “ A Visa is valid for 3 months ” Does it mean that I can stay in Thailand for 3 months?
A: No, the validity of Visa and the duration of staying are not the same, the 3 months valid visa means that you have to enter the kingdom within 3 months once the visa has been issued. The duration of your staying is the period in which you are permitted to stay in the kingdom.

Q9: I had a visa issued last year but it has expired before I could use it. Can I extend this visa?
A: No, if the visa expires, the Consulate can not extend the visa. You will have to re-apply for a new one.

Q10: If I lost my Passport with a valid visa still in it, do I have to apply a new Visa?
A: Yes, the process has to be started all over again.

Q11: I was granted a 60- day tourist visa. However, If I would like to stay longer. What should I do?
A: You have to extend your staying at the Office of Thai Immigration Bureau located on Soi Suan Plu, Off South Sathorn Road, Bangkok 10120, Tel ( 662) 287 3101-10

Q12. With an Australian passport, to travel by overland. Do I need a visa?
A; As we mentioned in “ Q1 ”, Australian Nationals (including 41other countries) are allowed to stay up to ONLY 15 days with a return ticket.

Q13: I got a 1 year Non-Immigrant ” OA” (retirement ) Visa issued. Do I need to report to the immigration if I have to leave the Kingdom?
A: Before you leave Thailand, even for a short period of time, You have to apply for a re-entry permit from the Thai immigration. The re-entry permit will allow you to re- entry until your existing visa expire.
